What Does a Caregiver Do?

    What you’ll do:

    • Support the client's overall well-being by building a meaningful connection, assuring autonomy, and providing safety and security.
    • Help bathe, dress, groom, and assist with other things people do throughout the day.
    • Provide care for clients with special and/or chronic care conditions such as dementia or people who have had a stroke.

    • Assist with shopping, light housekeeping, laundry, meal preparation, and other instrumental activities of daily living. (IADLs)
    • Assist those who can walk, wash, dress, eat, groom, and use the toilet independently. You may provide encouragement, help oversee activities, provide setup assistance, etc.
    • Document all visits.
