How do you see aging? Is it the thriving lifestyle of seniors taking on new careers, volunteering, or running marathons? Or is it the traditional idea of the harsher realities of aging?
Homewatch CareGivers of New Haven in partnership with J. Mane Gallery is launching “The Art of Aging,” a virtual Art Exhibit and Contest for 2020. The exhibit and contest invite artists with a creative spirit to share their vision of aging for a chance to win cash prizes. The competition is national, allowing people from across the United States to create and submit art that celebrates the diversity, dignity, and beauty of the aging experience.
“Aging impacts us all. Photographs and paintings can be a meaningful way to show both the beauty and realities of aging. They can help us understand older adults and the aging experience in a refreshing light.” — Mary Elizabeth Peterson, Co-Owner of Homewatch CareGivers of New Haven, local professional artist, and show juror
“The Art of Aging” is designed for the hobbyist to showcase their creative talents and for professional artists to share their passion for making art. “The Art of Aging” entries are juried by a panel of distinguished judges to select the winners. The show will be displayed online with J. Mane Gallery and at a special exhibit in the gallery of Homewatch’s Foundry Square New Haven location during the summer of 2020.
The contest runs from May 13 to July 11, 2020, with winners announced and the online exhibition to open on July 18, 2020. The deadline for submission is July 11, 2020. The contest is open to participants 18 years and older who live in the United States. For a complete list of dates, prizes, and rules, please click here!
