About Us
Homewatch CareGivers of Guilford
Matthew and Mary Elizabeth Peterson opened Homewatch CareGivers in New Haven as part of an important chapter of their lives. Matthew’s grandmothers lived to 98 and 101 years old. Their lives were a blessing. However, their advanced ages required increasing levels of homecare and eventual placement in assisted living communities as their dementia deepened. Matthew and Mary Elizabeth saw the physical, emotional, and financial impacts of dealing with dementia, as their families struggled with what to do. They saw what works and what doesn’t firsthand. Both Matthew and Mary Elizabeth have started to experience these same issues with their own parents, who are now in their eighties.
The Petersons started Homewatch CareGivers of New Haven to apply their business and life experiences to helping seniors and their families live where they choose with safety, dignity, and peace of mind.
Matthew and Mary Elizabeth opened their Guilford office to be closer their clients along the Shoreline. The Guilford office will help them maintain even closer connections with their clients and employees. Matthew has strong ties to Guilford; his grandparents had a farm near Rt. 80 where his father grew up and his family spent many summers. Additionally, his parents operated a business on the Post Road for many years until their retirement.
The Petersons have become a key component of the Shoreline senior community. Homewatch CareGivers has joined the Shoreline Eldercare Alliance (SEA), where Matthew is a member of the board of directors and serves as treasurer. He is also active in the Shoreline Senior Networking Group and serves on the Board of Interfaith Volunteer Caregivers.
