Employee Spotlight is a new Homewatch CareGivers of Crystal Lake blog series meant to surface stories of the amazing individuals behind our local caregiving service. From office workers and owners to the actual caregivers in the field, you’ll get to hear stories from our team so you can get to know the people who makes us who we are.
Kowsar has worked as a caregiver for Homewatch CareGivers (HWCG) of Crystal Lake since 2018, and prior to working at HWCG she worked in nursing homes and as a homemaker for several years. Kowsar was first attracted to homecare work because her experience raising six kids made her realize that she could really thrive in caregiving as a professional. She loves the opportunities caregiving provides for her to pour into the lives of others.
In talking about her experience as a caregiver, Kowsar expressed that she gets a great sense of personal satisfaction being able to help her clients to maintain their independence because of her work. This desire to help clients maintain their independence informs her care by instead of just doing everything for them, she partners with her clients to balance support with autonomy. This balancing between autonomy and support is a great example of our Eden Alternative care model and is what makes the care provided by HWCG special. She remembers a specific experience working with a client who loved to go for walks, but he was uncomfortable going on walks alone, so Kowsar always made sure to take walks with him whenever possible.
When Kowsar is not at work she loves cooking for herself and her six daughters and playing games as a family wherever she gets the chance. She also loves to curl up with a good mystery book whenever she gets the chance.
