Making Vibrancy Part of Your Life

There are several definitions for vibrant, including “exciting; stimulating; lively,” and “vigorous; energetic; vital.”

What comes to mind when you think of vibrancy? Colors? A person in your life? An experience you had?

It’s fun to see what words are synonyms for vibrant: peppy, zesty, sparkling, dynamic, animated, electrifying. Maybe you can see where these descriptions fit into the ways you choose to spend your time with yourself and others.

Adding Vibrancy

Everyone needs joy and meaning in their life, and it could be argued that aiming for vibrancy is a good place to start. Here are some simple ways to add that pep to your overall life through daily choices and actions:

  1. Each month, try something new to you. In other words, get out of your rut. This doesn’t have to be sky diving or anything dangerous (though if you’ve always wanted to jump out of an airplane with a parachute, why not now?), but maybe visit a new coffee shop or buy yourself flowers or go to that museum you’ve heard so much about but never made time to visit.
  2. Plan time in nature and be mindful about it to really get the most out of the experience. Take along a journal to record all that you notice while in a park, at the beach, on a mountain trail, or wherever you explore so that subtle sounds like birdsong or wind in the tree’s leaves will make an imprint on you.
  3. Don’t wait for the phone to ring. It’s time to be the one with the ideas and making the effort. Invite someone over for a visit or suggest an outing together sometime soon to fill up that calendar so there are plans to look forward to regularly.

Before you know it, life could be full of zest and pep!
